Dallas is full of creative minds doing fascinating things in alternative photographic processes. It’s also full of budding breweries creating equally interesting concoctions. So it seemed natural to pair the two for an evening. Whether you’re into more traditional silver black and white processes, wet plate collodion, vandyke, palladium, cyanotype, gum bichromate or just in it for the hops and barley this is a great way to connect with people of like tastes.

Join Todd Puckett of Don’s Used Photo and wet plate photographer Lisa Elmaleh for a casual get together at Pegasus City Brewery to chat and share ideas about analog photography and alt processes. There will also be local educators, artists and businesses that support the industry in attendance. We hope to discuss ways to create a more defined photographic community and opportunities for collaboration.

Don’s Used Photo is celebrating 21 years in business by supporting alternative and traditional photographic processes in Dallas. As one of the last remaining camera stores of their kind, Don’s is a gem for the DFW photographic community. They generously provided a $100 discount on DCP’s Introduction to Wet Plate Photography workshop on May 19-20.

  • Monday, May 21 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Pegasus City Brewery. This is a casual get together so feel free to come or go when ever you please.
  • Event is free (but the beer is not!). We do ask that you RSVP through the DCP website so that we have an idea of how many people to expect.
  • Appetizers will be provided by Don’s Used Photo but you’re welcome to bring in additional food.

  • Respected wet plate photographer Lisa Elmaleh is in town representing Penumbra Foundation for several events with DCP. Her beginner weekend workshop is sold out but if you have wet plate experience, there’s still room in her half-day shooting add on.

Q: Who all is invited?
A: Are you interested in analog photography? Then you’re invited! Even if you don’t know much about film or alternative processes, come hang out anyway. You’ll likely discover something interesting.

Q: What about parking?
A: There is plenty of free parking in front of the brewery as well as on Vantage Street.

Q: Who is Pegasus City Brewery?
A: Pegasus City opened its doors in 2017 brewing easy-drinking, porch-approved ales and lagers. Located just 1.5 miles from DCP, their taproom offers an elegant space to connect with photo friends. The brewmaster is also a long time photographer and film maker so they were happy to host this event.
