Hands-on lab. Using your own laptop we'll use the more advanced tools we've learned to edit select photos provided by the students.

Photoshop is now a verb and a mandatory skill for any photographer who wants total control of the creative and editing process. This powerful software is the recognized professional standard in raster graphics editing that incorporates the tools and structure to create, enhance, salvage and export your images.

What you’ll learn:

Each series consists of four classes. The first three classes of each series are demonstration style, with the instructor taking you through a tour of tools, features and techniques. The last class of each series is a hands-on lab where you’ll work with your own laptop and follow along as you’re shown how to put your new found skills into action. The “Adobe Photoshop CC Classroom in a Book” is required and will provide support and exercises for several of the modules.

Intermediate Photoshop takes the basics from the Beginner classes and puts them into action with real world, complex images. You’ll learn more about the power of Photoshop to retouch images, dissect and re-composite photos and enhance or alter reality. The Beginner Photoshop series or equivalent are prerequisites. At the end of the Intermediate series you’ll be able to extract objects from complex backgrounds, make photorealistic adjustments to portraits and products, apply advanced techniques to landscapes, assemble panoramas and create HDR images.

What you’ll need:
You will need to bring a laptop for your own use for the last class, but the first three sessions are designed to be an instructor demonstration with opportunity for questions and answers. The Adobe Photoshop CC Classroom in a Book is required. Pick it up on Amazon.

  • Cost per person is $65 early registration (available until 5 days before class start date), $75 late registration.
  • All four classes are available at a discounted bundle rate of $220 (available until 5 days before the first class start date).
  • Doors open at 6:15pm.
  • Classes start promptly at 6:30pm.
  • Each class is 2 ½ hours long.
  • Advance registration and payment is required.
  • Maximum number of students is 20, minimum number to make a class is 8.

Q: Is there a book required for these classes?
A: Yes. We’ll be working from The Adobe Photoshop CC Classroom in a Book for most of the lessons. Pick it up locally or on Amazon.

Q: Do I need a laptop?
A:
You will need a laptop for the final class, but the first three sessions are designed to be an instructor demonstration with opportunity for questions and answers.

Q: What is Photoshop?
A: Adobe Photoshop is the de facto standard for raster graphic and photo image construction and manipulation. It is extremely powerful and layered and can be a necessary part of your skill set if you need total creative control over your images.

Q: What about Lightroom?
A: Lightroom works in conjunction with Photoshop. Think of Lightroom as the corner emergency clinic where you go if you have a cold, sprain or splinter. Photoshop is the equivalent of a large hospital where major surgery is performed. For many people Photoshop is unnecessary and their entire workflow happens within the toolset of Lightroom. If you are doing commercial, industrial, special effects or other types of photography that require major surgery then Photoshop is an essential skill.

Q: What will I learn?
A: Intermediate Photoshop takes the basics from the Beginner classes and puts them into action with real world, complex images. You’ll learn more about the power of Photoshop to retouch images, dissect and re-composite photos and enhance or alter reality.

Q: How much do the classes cost?
A: The early registration fee is $65/person per class if you register at least 5 days before the class date. Late registration is $75/person.

Q: Can I mix and match classes from different series for the bundled price?
A: No, the discounted bundled price is only available to classes taken in sequence.

Q: Can I take individual classes instead of the series?
A: You can sign up for any of the classes you like, but it’s highly recommended that you take all four to appreciate and understand what this software is capable of.

Q: How will I know if a class makes or not?
A: If a class doesn’t make and has to be canceled, you will receive an email no later than the night before the scheduled class date.

Q: How late can I sign up for a class?
A: As long as the class doesn’t show as “sold out”, you can register and pay up to two hours before the starting time of the class.

Q: What if I have to cancel?
A: Details on cancellations are on our Policies page.
